Mitch Copman has almost 20 years of experience running technology companies that specialize in custom business management offerings. He has been a part of SEMS Technologies since 2007 and has helped the company and product offering mature from a single product specifically for Security/Vulnerability Assessments partly funded by the Federal Government to answering an industry need for, a comprehensive Utility Management System that is robust, financially palatable, and easy to use…a combination that is very difficult to find. His leadership style is one of a mutual respect and caring, for his staff and customers. He is committed to help utilities be more efficient, save money, stay compliant with the state and federal regulators. He positions SEMS to be a well-respected partner for the water utilities, public works departments and private utility operators.
Before taking on the partnership role at SEMS he was the President and CEO of CLASSIC Real Estate Systems, a company that provided a similar type of product to the Affordable Housing Industry. He built that company from 6 customers regionally to over 800 nationally.
He never seems to have enough involvements, besides his role at SEMS, he is the long time Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Council for Affordable Rural Housing (CARH), a national industry association for rural affordable housing. He also holds a prestigious board positions on the CARH Scholarship Foundation, he is a board member of the newly formed Greater Alpharetta Tech Network and serves on the GA Association of Water Professional’s Asset Management Committee, was part of the 2011 Leadership Forsyth Program, is active in Rotary, and an advisor two other companies.
He has a BS Degree in Business Administration from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He is originally from Philadelphia, PA, and has made the Atlanta Suburbs his home along with his wife and two children since 1984.
Joshua Koppel is the Vice President of SEMS Technologies, LLC. He has over eight years of experience in programming and software development management of operating systems, database engines, and data communications in the software industry. In 2003 he began programming for the Windows-based Enterprise product. Since then he has played central roles in several technology platform conversions, including Btrieve to Oracle/SQL Server, Windows to Web-based systems, and VB6 to .NET. In his role of Director of Technology he oversees the performance, security, platform architecture and stability, and specializing in supporting new product lines of the SEMS Suite.
In 2010 Josh assumed the additional role of Director of Professional Services. In this role, he oversees all business operations of the client services division, managing new client implementations, internal and external training, and consulting relationships.
Josh earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Business Administration at Humboldt State University.
Senior Account and Project Manager
Kurtis Warne has spent the last nine years working with state water associations, engineering firms, utility consultants, and hundreds of utilities nationwide to develop ways to make security, water quality compliance, and utility asset management more effective and efficient. He is professional speaker for many associations (AWWA, GAWP, etc) to provide training on topics including: utility security, water quality compliance, asset management, and capital improvement planning to help municipalities and private enterprises better understand and more capably fulfill these aspects of their jobs. Kurtis works with SEMS customers and developers to find ever more effective ways to take the burden off utilities and help keep them up-to-date with the ever changing regulatory environment.
Professional Services and Trainer
Eric Hafford is a life-long Georgia resident who has a broad range of experience in various fields. He studied computer repair, networking, and operation while attending West Central Technical Institute of Georgia, where he earned a certification in computers. Before coming to SEMS as a member of the Professional Services team, he worked as a supervisor for three years, learning logistics and inventory management. He then progressed into the wastewater field and soon earned his certification as a Georgia Class III Wastewater Operator.
Shortly after earning this certification Eric joined SEMS as a member of the Professional Services team, assisting clients with onsite software training, setup and troubleshooting. He has trained thousands of water system staff members nationwide and helped them get started using the SEMS software tools.
Senior IT and Support Services Coordinator
Jason Fatino is the Senior IT and Support Services Coordinator at SEMS Technologies. He has spent the majority of his professional career in Technical Services. He has a unique ability to troubleshoot computer and software issues. Additionally, he has a gift to work with users and helping them with their technical problems. Technology also likes him back, just ask the people at SEMS when they have an internal computer problem. He has been a part of the SEMS team for over five years.
In 2005, Jason worked with first responders and the Unified Command to help during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He deployed and maintained wireless networks and communication equipment for search and rescue operation. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Security from ITT and has 20+ years of experience with computer related support.
